WARP of 1st Commemoration

Finally, it is this week. The WARP of 1st Commemoration begins in few days. After the WARP Summit last year, HWPL has continued its effort to create harmony in the world. They have established WARP Offices and invited religious leaders of the community to participate in a discussion to compare their religion and reach to an agreement. Each peace dialogues ended with signing the peace agreement. Although it is a small act of signing a paper, its symbolism is enormous as this agreement is signed by many other religious leaders. These agreements will gather to create a larger unity in the world. The WARP of 1st Commemoration will become another giant step towards achieving the dream that we have longed for.

Film: Angels & Demons (Can a religion be flawless?)

"When you write of us and you will write of us. May I ask one thing? Do so gently. Religion is flawed, but only because man is flawed. All men. Including this one."

This line is said by Cardinal Strauss from the film, "Angels & Demons". The fictional film suggests the conspiracy in the oldest Christian denomination, however, it also shows the humanistic side of the Church, which constitutes faith and theology. It shows the comprise between the religion and science.

On the other hand, Cardinal Strauss' last word to Professor Langdon, who is portrayed by Tom Hanks, does not demote the meaning of religion, but promote its humility. It is definite that religion is the source to our communication with a god. People believe that religion is given and provided by the god, so that the creation can connect with god through rituals and doctrines. This religion, of course, is flawless when created by the Creator, who created this world. However, can a religion be corrupted? As we saw a different side of religion in the film, we also see that religion can be corrupted. It is not because the Creator is corrupted, but we, who participate in the religion, are flawless.

This is why scriptures were given to us, so that we may follow the will of the god, who we believe in. Currently, HWPL is establishing WARP Offices all over the world, so that representatives from different religions can participate in discussion to compare the scriptures to see the similarity inside these scriptures. This is the practical solution that Chairman Man Hee Lee offered, in order to see how much we know about the religious scripture. Then, we will be able to truly understand the will of the heaven and the Creator. Anything can be corrupted. This is why there is a proverb in Asia that one has to empty his or her cup. Anything that stays inside the cup will become corrupted eventually and this is why we need to fill in the new. The wave of HWPL and the peace movement led by Chairman Man Hee Lee will become that the new water that will clear the flaws in the religions to answer the questions, can religions be flawless?

Essay: War and Peace

War. What is it good for? The song sung by Edwin Starr poses a question to its listeners. Each nation spend countless financial resources for the preparation of a possible war. Although some countries need military power, in order to protect themselves from neighboring nation, it is somewhat amazing to see how much funds we spend on to harm someone.

The investment that we make in the security of our nation is obviously not wrong, but it seems that it would be better to find a better solution. The funds that we use to develop the military could be used for something else, such as social welfare and for technical innovation that would improve our daily lifestyle. It does not mean I do not appreciate our veterans or current soldiers, who sacrifice their lives for the welfare of our nation. However, I think we could find a different solution that would help everyone to enjoy a safe and secure life.

HWPL proposes world peace and end of war. Since the WARP Summit, many people, especially in the religious world, have been making efforts to bring peace and unity in their own communities. And like many philosophers and great thinkers mentioned in their individual writings, peace must be achieved within ourselves. We need to want peace in our heart. Then, a change will happen naturally as we work to find a solution together. Our level of conscience needs to increase in terms of our treatment to our neighbors. This all returns back to the basic teaching of love.

The world is divided into so many different pieces. This does not mean the geographical separation of continents. Luckily there is a limit to how many continents we are divided into. However, we find a way to communicate and to travel to the different continents. Our separation does not stop us from reaching to different parts of the world. However, it seems harder to reach out to one another in terms of spiritual or ideological separation. There have been efforts to achieve ecumenical beliefs among the Christian denomination. However, still in addition to countless denominations of Christianity, from which started from only one man, many other religions exist in the world that claims to believe in the Creator.

We are divided into many nations with ideological differences and inside the individual nation, we are divided in many different ways in terms of values and beliefs on what should be truth. War is not specifically limited to an act to kill or harm someone physically. However, what is it good for? It only brings suffering and division in this small planet (compared to the whole universe) that we call home. Peace is when we start walking in the same direction under one guidance. This guidance comes from heaven. We all claim to have our own answers to truth, however, there is one heaven and one Creator. Thus, there is one answer. Our vision to discover this answer must be the banner that unites us together. We are common in this way, and nothing else matters. Our ego and motivation to seek the answer must not harm someone, who disagrees with us.

We are all walking in the same direction, only in different way. This differences does not matter, because we are eventually all walking in the same direction. The miracle in the WARP Summit 2014 was truly amazing, because even though it was a small number of people compared to the global population, people with different belief and answers agreed to achieve peace together under the Creator. And the spirit of the WARP Summit and the vision of HWPL is being carried out today through the establishment of WARP Offices in different countries of the world.

We invest in arms and weapons in fear of a war. However, if this fear disappears through the peace, imagine how much impact it could make in our individual lives. I hope for that day to come to us soon. The vision of Mr. Man Hee Lee inspired my friends and I to work for peace. We can all become a peace advocate in our community.

Interview: Chairman Man Hee Lee

This interview with Chairman Man Hee Lee, the peace advocate who has been actively travelling around the world to promote world peace and end of war, summarizes the vision and the thoughts of the Chairman. Even though the translation is in German, I hope to share a quote of Chairman Lee that stood out to me.

"The divine being promised in the scriptures on how He will bring peace to the world for thousands years."

-This is the main vision of HWPL WARP Offices. HWPL believes that there must be a comparative studies on religious scriptures based the prophecy regarding peace. This is the purpose of WARP Office. It is to find the true will of the divine being, who created the world, so that we may be able to find an understanding in between religions.

HWPL: Donations for Nepal Earthquake

A peace movement does not only consists of messages of peace. It also consists of action. Peace can be simply defined as love for our neighbors. The act of charity that HWPL showed towards the victims of the recent Nepal Earthquake is a proof that HWPL and Chairman Man Hee Lee also walks the path of love. They do not only speak, but also act to achieve peace. Although HWPL may not be financially strong, it is great to see that they made great effort to support the fellow mankind, who suffered from a natural disaster. All wars result with victors and losers, but peace results with all victors. We all become winners in our path towards tolerance and understanding. It was great to see the world becoming one to empathize the pain and the suffering of the victims of Nepal Earthquake. I hope that our bonds grow stronger even in these hardships.

Interfaith Dialogue For World Peace in Laos

Another WARP Office meeting was hosted in Laos in March. This meeting was to discuss and continue the vision and the spirit of WARP Summit. This meeting at University College of Medicine, Laos included 40 religious, women, and youth leaders.

In order to continue the efforts made at WARP Summit last September, the participants of the dialogue discussed about peace in the religious scriptures, so that all religious will reach to a common point.

"What is the definition of peace in your religion?"

This is a question that leaves each person with a thought. Many people in the world lost faith in religion, because of their action against peace. Instead of working for peace and loving others, religion hates those who have different ideas and views. The question of what is peace in each religion guides the thoughts of the people of religion towards the original purpose of religion. This is the purpose of WARP Summit and the consecutive meetings for the establishment of WARP Office. It is to rediscover the meaning of religion, which is to achieve peace.

The effect that the WARP Summit led by Chairman Man Hee Lee motivated the people in the world to meet with people of different faith voluntarily to walk the same path. This is something that has never been achieved before.

Post-WARP Summit: WARP Office

The practical solution suggested in the WARP Summit was alliance of religion. Rather than focusing on the difference, it suggested to find similarity. And the first step towards creating alliance of religions is to compare not the individual thoughts of its leaders, but its scriptures.

This is why since the WARP Summit, many gatherings of religion's leaders came together in their local community to discuss specifically about their religious scriptures and their thoughts on peace. If WARP Summit attempted to gather people globally, these gatherings of local religious leaders in each community attempts to reach out in a micro-scale, in order to discuss about peace in detailed with leaders, who weren't able to participate in the WARP Summit. One by one, HWPL is reaching out to people to proclaim and shine the light of peace. And the place, where all local leaders can gather to discuss about religion in the name of peace is the WARP Office.

WARP Offices are being established continuously all over the world, so that more religious leaders and believers can come together to talk about peace despite their religious differences. This will allow small communities to unite together. Recently, a WARP office has been established in New Zealand. It is amazing to see the development after the WARP Summit and the steps that Mr. Man Hee Lee and HWPL took to come one step closer to achieving peace in the world. I hope that WARP office can be established in the community that I live in, so that local leaders can meet to discuss peace.
